Noe Valley Pet of the Month - August

Greetings from the Pet Corner!

This month we are featuring a very social butterfly who many in Noe Valley will recognize. Trixie the Pug lives with her human Rachel and was nice enough to take a few minutes from her busy day to tell us a little bit about her life....

Hi Trixie, How did you and Rachel meet?

This is a story that ends well, I promise! Sadly enough, however, I was abandoned by my previous owners because I had cancer, and I wound up in a ‘kill shelter’.  My beloved Mistress saw a sad photograph of me online, and she immediately cleared her work schedule for the following morning and drove three hours to meet me. She stayed with me at the shelter in a little room until my adoption was processed; she wouldn’t leave my side because I was stressed. Once my adoption was final, she named me “Trixie”, and took me home, where I’ve since conquered cancer, and have been very loved ever since!

Do you have a best friend?

My BFF of many years, Lili the Black Lab, crossed the rainbow bridge this year. RIP Lili; you are in my heart always and forever.

My best-est Puggy friend is Surf Gidget the Pug of Orange County. Gidget and I got to know each other very well when I was staying in Laguna Beach. In fact, Gidget was just in San Francisco again, and on August 4, 2018 she WON the World Dog Surfing Championships!!! Gidget captured the GOLD medal in her Small Dog category, and she also won the GOLD medal for ‘Top Dog 2018’, making her the 2018 World Dog Surfing Champion! So Proud of #TeamGidget!

If you had to choose just one toy, what would it be?

Gotta have my plushies, although I sleep with them (as opposed to chew them like some do…).

What does your human say that makes you a happy dog?

Every day I am told, “You are loved!” And I also particularly love hearing that it’s time for ‘nummies for my tummies’!

Do you like car rides? When you get in the car, where do you hope your destination is?

Yes, I LOVE riding in my mom’s convertible in the daytime; I have my own jump seat, and enjoy looking at the world going by.  We travel a lot, so I also enjoy planes, trains, cabs/uber/lyft, Formula 1 cars, my wagon, my stroller, etc.  My FAVORITE destination is Pug Sunday San Francisco, although any Pug gathering is super high on my list. If you haven’t been, you should go; it’s hilarious, because you become a speed bump for pugs!

If you could meet any dog in the world, who would it be and why?

Bo and Sunny Obama!

If you could go anywhere in the world, where would you go?

Bermuda. Or Europe. I’ve been to the Caribbean for six weeks (in fact, we had pizza delivered by plane from a different country, Sint Maarten, to Sint Eustatius!); Chicago; Michigan; Telluride, Colorado; and all over California (Lake Tahoe, Yosemite, Napa Valley, Healdsburg, Sonoma, Marin County, San Francisco, San Jose, Saratoga, Santa Cruz, Pismo Beach, Solvang, Hearst Castle, Santa Barbara, Los Angeles, Orange County, San Diego). My Mom is visually impaired, and I am a Registered Service Dog (NOT to be confused with a seeing eye dog). The past four years we have been traveling extensively together, returning every month to San Francisco for medical appointments.

Where are your favorite places to visit in Noe Valley?

VIP Scrub Club on Church Street; Noe Valley Pet Co. on Church; Toast Eatery on Church Street;

If you would like to see more of Trixie the Pug, she is on Instagram, Twitter and Facebook. Or, walk around Noe Valley and you might just run in to her and Rachel.
